have 1.6 mhz intel pentium processor, comp used to reboot fast, now takes 10 mins. when i access a program takes 1-2 mins. if i go back to that program time cut to seconds. takes 2-3 minutes to get on-line, after i get on i can move around the net in half seconds, (have cable), have spyware and virus programs and run scans regularly. also defrag and run disk scans too. checked msconfig seems fine 12-14 processes going at anytime. any tips?

Hello Jess try getting rid of some of your system restore points.

Check how many things are running at startup via Start "RUN,Msconfig,Startup" and untick all that you think you dont need.

Then try clearing out all your intenet cookies, cache and History files via tools, options.
That should do the trick for you.

noooo.. dont use MSConfig, got a hole according to black viper, go to spybot-search and destroy (a spyware tool), then update it, and look in the start up list there. On the right hand side once u click an item it will say weather u need it. i'd try updating ur anti-spyware and anti-virus, checking with them and then came back and tell us if its still there
Also, search for a program called HijackThis, which helps u find malware.
ooooh, also check to see if automatic updates and other resource services are in the background (by going Right click my comp, manage and then services)
