I've been reading posts here about people w/ complaints of slow boot times... my computer used to load quickly w/ win 98 then I installed win xp over it and it took a while to load.... I've tried bootvis and regcleaner... these really haven't produced any more results.... I'm really only concerned with whats going on during the logo screen... this is the source of the problem... it takes about 25 sec alone to load on that screen.... from there on everything runs well... I have an 1600xp+ athlon and 512 ddr ram... anyone here who can venture a guess on what might be wrong would be greatly appreciated...

If you are using Norton Internet Security!!!!!!! You will have very slow restarts.... I installed it and my computer would take 30-40 seconds to shutdown.... I now dont have NIS on my computer and I restart never longer then 10 seconds sometimes only 5 seconds...... So my concluson is that NIS is the reason for slow restarts!!!!!!!!!!! Your Welcome
