I'm having a problem with my pc, at boot up it seems to load fine, windows xp loads to the desk top but for about 60 seconds nothing is clickable, when I open My Computer I see the tourch searching for the hard drive, and everything else inside my computer, its kinda frustrating. I also noticed that inside the event viewer in Administrative Tools, there are some system errors that say's
The device, \Device\Harddisk1\, has a bad block.
is this the same as a bad sector on the hard drive? Grr just been to the shop and got a new hard drive and the pc has come back like this!!thanks

First, if you havent done so, run scandisk on thorough then defrag. Other than that i cant tell you anyhting else about the hard drive.
Now, for the slow boot up......go to start>Run
type in msconfig. and go to the last tab called startup.
these are the programs that start during the startup. You can basically remove anything from here and be ok. stuff like gator datemanager CME stuff should not be selected! and basically anything except stuff from the windows folder can be unchecked. Even if u remove the files from windows folder nothing should happen. After removing all the junk... restart it and try it. Let me know of it works.

Thanks ram, i've tried all that, and its never made one bit of difference, i think my pc is revolting on me!!

Try running spybot (free) AND adaware (FREE) search on google you'll find them if you ahve spyware it will slow your computer a lot and even if you go and uninstall them or run ms config the will re-install by them selve it might be as well to much junk in your registry unless your confortable playing in it i sugest a reformat if evrything fails..
good luck!
N
