My PC goes into sleep mode or hangs whenever I play any game (doom, halflife etc)..I am unable to re-awake the PC and have to reboot. This happens after about 5 mins of starting the game. I have a Geforce FX5500 graphics card (256Mb)with the latest drivers both for sound and graphics. The power options in control panel are set NOT to hibernate or power down ...can anyone help ?

See event viewer for clues.
I think you are in a crash not a sleep. Driver or memory leak issue is my guess.

The event viewer just shows that CTRL ALT DEL has been pressed..this could be the program generating that report or it could be me when the system hangs and I reboot...nothing else is shown in the event viewer..the screen either freezes or I get the display showing "entering sleep mode"..the CDROM runs up for a few seconds before the system hangs
