Hey all,
One of my hard drives won't load when i reboot. I have to keep going into the Device Manager and do "Scan for hardware changes" for it to show up but once i reboot, it goes away again. The drive is a Seagate, i tried their diagnostic tool to see if the drive has a problem but the test didn't come up with anything.
I also formatted the drive using the Disk Management in Control Panel but still no luck.
By the way, i pulled this drive from my old PC and hooked it up to this one, it was a slave drive in the old as it is in this one also. It never did this on my old machine though.
I'm using Win XP Pro Sp2 if that helps, i have 4 hard drives, 2 on IDEs (the one that doesn't work is the slave one) and 2 SATAs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx

have you gone into BIOS and make sure your drive is being autodetected
Sebastien, you might want to read this too
OVERRIDE

Try both drives on the same cable, the slave in the middle position. Also the master may have a jumper position, Master with Slave ( MS )

The drive might be a little slow coming up to speed and becoming ready. The new fast system could be agravating the problem. You could look for an option in the bios to disable 'fast boot' or something like that.
Do yourself a favor BACKUP!
