Hi everybody!
I have a strange problem - my Skype (v.3.6) suddenly stopped launching. Exactly what happens is this:
I launch skype, it asks for login and password, and when I am entering them, skype collapses to the the windows task bar (unconnected),
stays a few sec there and then disappears. If I check windows task manager - skype.exe is NOT among running tasks!!!
If I re-launch skype - everything repeats (skype collapses and disappears).
Re-installed skype several times (even try to return to older version 3.5), cleaning registry files in between - doesn't help!
Tried to switch off firewall - doesn't help.
It looks like something blocks it, but not the firewall (as it doesn't work with firewall off either). If you know what may cause the problem, please help.
Thank you.My OS: Windows XP home edition
Firewall: Agnitum Outpost
Fujistu-Siemens 3400+ laptop (64-bit)
plenty of free disc space (10 GGb) and RAM (1256 MGb)

Do you have any other programs like spyware removers or anything else that might be shutting it off?

Most likely antivirus that terminates your autorun file.
What greater betrayal is there, to give pain where you owe love.

Yes, I have adwatch monitor, which prevents program from unauthorised change of registry files. But I don't think this is the problem, because skype disappears BEFORE I even launch adwatch (adwatch does not start automatically ).> Most likely antivirus
Hm... that's interesting. Could be. I have NOD32. If that's true, do you know what settings in NOD should I change to stop it blocking Skype?Thank you.

Check their knowledge base at their help and support link for this type of problem. Maybe find help at http://www.wilderssecurity.com/ . Bluejay

bluejay, thanks for the link.
> you could simply try disabling nod and see if it works.
Thank you, TheNerd, you will try that and post the result here.
