Hi

I just installed Skype after I read somewhere
that now you are able to make local calls to
regular phones and cellphones,is true?
I tried by dialing my homephone # it worked but
I dont know if I have to pay for that.

Where did you read that? According to the homepage on Skype's website:

"Make calls from your computer — free to other people on Skype and cheap to landlines and cell phones around the world."

Pretty much tells you there it's not free unles you're calling other Skype registered users.

Life's more painless for the brainless.

I dial my home phone last night and it did ring
but i was afraid to answer.

I think that this only happens in the US and Canada.

Yes international calls you have to pay but am here in the US and want to use it to call to friends on other states within the US.

If you have Skype try and let me know.

Did you read what it stated on that web-page?

"We just announced that SkypeOut is now free within the US and Canada to all landlines and mobiles, until at least the end of 2006."

As far as I know they do charge for land-line calls. However, when you sign up they should have given you a small credit (mine was $0.49). So go ahead and make a local call and find out. Unless you gave them your CC info they can't very well charge you - you have to buy credits ahead of time.

By the way, call to toll free numbers are free. Which is what I use it for all the time when I have conference calls.
