Hey,

Just an FYI (I'm sure you all noticed)...

I redesigned the site. The actual functionality isn't changed one bit. I just think this design looks more clean/modern. They old design was getting a little, well, old.

Let me know what you think!

Howdy Justin,

Why not extend the grey all throughout the layout? I think it might look better than it does at this time .... who knows. Although, the site will still look a little dated without a significant layout overhaul ;-)

Hey,

I don't want to extend the gray throughout because I think its harder to read black text on gray. I know the site is going to look dated without a significant redesign. However, I like the design the way it is, and I know other people do too. There's nothing I hate more than when I site redesigns functionality for no good reason. I thought this redesign was a happy medium between looking a bit cooler and absolutely no change in functionality.

Hi Justin

I agree about the Grey - would be harder to read - leave it as you have it now

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating for a "social networking" cookie-cutter redesign. Moreover, the simple & unique non-clutter layout of the forums have been a signature look for the site -- something I think virtually everyone agrees to preserve.

It's so Cooooool - I like it. Good work Justin. BTW are you planning to also redesign the site favicon to match the new logo with the "@"?

XpUser,

I hadn't considered that... Probably not because making a favicon is pretty hard. The only reason I did it was to stop the thousands of error messages in the logs saying "file not found: favicon.ico"

Not really a problem for me. It's just that I didn't want to wake up one morning to find a strange looking favicon sitting on my desktop as a sign that the machine have transformed itself into a botnet zombie.. LOL :-)

I like the new banner, but I do not like the white on grey. I preferred the plain white.

It looks really tacky to me now. 8(

Nice work, Justin. I was wondering the other day if it would change because it's been the other way the past 4 years that I've been coming to computing.net. The new look does look very attractive. I like the letter style very much! And as RandyL said, it's the best of both worlds.

Keep up the good work Justin.

Hmmm,

That's odd wanderer... I'd just repost it by editing your post asking what happened to the link.

Justin -

Maybe it's just me but when I edit a post the cursor is hard to see. Have you noticed this too?

XpUser,

I see... It seems to be flashing really fast for some reason... I'm not sure if I have the ability to fix that.

Yes that's the one! Other than that the editing function does work with the site makeover. Perhaps something may come to your mind soon or later over how the faint flashing cursor can be fixed.

Hey,

I think it is the flash ad that is doing that, nothing to do with the site redesign. I can't imagine how the site redesign would have made that happen.

Looks cool, tastes great.
