You people here are the best for solving problems. Here's another that's bugging me.

www.safetydefender.com has taken over my IE browser home page and I can't find out how to deep-six it.

Any suggestions?

Paul

Download Hijack This 1.99.1 here

,install it and "Do A System Scan Only". Click on "SCAN" at the bottom. Once it's finished click on "Save Log" and save it as a .txt file. DO NOT fix anything! This is a pretty powerful tool. Be sure that the program is in its own folder on the root drive (eg. C:/HJT rather than C:/temp..). If it's saved in a temp folder it won't be able to make back-ups if needed. Also be sure that while it's running that no other windows are open. Then copy and paste the log back here and I'll take a look at it for you.

I thought you could just click on tools then internet options and retype in the home page you want. Then you can click on start, run, type in msconfig and then disable the prog on startup

P. Daigneault, tell us what you've already tried in detail to fix the problem...it will give us more of a chance to get an accurate solution for you.
First,
I would try tufenuf's response 1 , IMHO 'that' wouldn't take 3 days to analyze and all the answers are there that I can see.
There are many tools available that can be used for cleansing that problem...HTH

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Thanks, folks, for your input.
Brucerac: I had already thought of that; problem is it's not a startup problem, it's a home page problem - it doesn't affect access to the rest of the internet.

Tufenuf and bloodhound114: Your suggestions look like possible winners. Unfortunately, the process is way over my head so I'm going to call in my eldest son - my resident ghuru - and turn it over to him.

Thanks a lot again all of you who took the time to respond.

Paul
