Someone suggested running SiSoftware Sandra for some troubleshooting help. I received a report 1 mile long and have no idea what is MANDATORY and what is RECOMMENDED, but not NECESSARY. Can you all help me decifer what on this list should be raising a red flag for me? Thanks a million!

that's way too much information for just a sound card problem.
Did you check ALL hardware connections? If you did, then double-check them.
Are the latest drivers installed correctly? Go to Device Manager if you're not sure. If you see a yellow exclamation point on your sound device, then that's probably why it's not working.
Please advise.

Well in all that information I can see no mention of a sound card, maybe I missed it.
Check it is correctly seated in its slot and check you have istalled the driver for it.M

Hi Stephanie,
Have you disabled the on-board soundcard in the BIOS (if you have on-board).
Have you checked the volume-settings? Are the speakers correctly plugged in?
All critical updates are installed (WindowsUpdate on Microsoft website)?Turn off all audio-acceleration via the directX diagnostics tool:
START>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information
Then look in the 'Tools' menu for it. DirectX also has a sound-troubleshooter.Although I don't think it's gonna make a difference, try this:
Press WinKey+R (that's the MS-LOGOkey+R) to get the Run-box, and type:
services.msc
Look in the list for these(same order):
SSDP Discovery Service
Universal PNP device host
RightClick on them for properties, and then make sure they're automatic & started.ControlPanel>Sounds and Audio devices
has a 'test hardware' wizard, maybe try it as well. That's all I can think of right now.
