My Sims 2 Wont Even Work On My Conputer! Because Of A Failer With Direct X 9.0 Is What A Waring Is Telling Me And Now I Can't Even Reten It To Get My Money Back I Wont Sims 2 To Be Ablie To Work On All Computers. Or I Wont To Get My Money Back. So I Will Be Abile To Buy Something Else! I'm Out Raged By This! THIS IS NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!

Hey Michaele. I feel sory 4 u. By law dey shud let u return it cos unless your system is up 2 the requirements on de back of de game's box den its officially faulty. Was wot u said a question?
I bow down to those who know the answer! Mostly!

very little is known often times about consumer's rights... it may not apply in your state and maybe in your specific purhcase, but it's always a good threat to a store that doesn't know better.... it's called the cooling-off law.. you can search on it at google... here is also a link that may be of interest: http://www.bbbsilicon.org/topic043.html
Basically in certain situations you have a set amount of days for certain purhcases to return them and rescind any contract, regardless of store "policy". I once did this when I returned a Play Station 2 to a local Gaming Store when I found a cheaper one at Costco.
Other than threatening them with the cooling-off law you can threaten to do a charge back. If you GIVE them back their game (so it is in the store's possesion) and threaten to do a charge back on your Credit Card (if you purchased it with a CC) then the store will most likely let you at least do an in-store trade. In my case I got the money back because I *KNEW* what I was talking about....
If a customer actually initiates a charge back then the store has to credit back the charged ammount immediately and in addition pay a $15 - $50 charge back fee (depending on card)... *THEN* they have to dispute the chargeback if they want to get their money back. Truth is they will never get the fee back and the customer almost always wins a charge back dispute and winning is almost gauranteed ESPECIALLY if you no longer have the goods and they have been returned to the store.
You do have rights, but they may take awhile to enforce them... however armed with knowledge about such things sometimes a good threat will go a long way towards customer satisfaction without having to carry it out.
With all this being said I realize there are many businesses out there doing lagitimate business and bad customers can really cause a lot of problems... please do not do this unless you are really in the right. As in software not working I would feel that to be a worthy situation...
best of luck with that!
Michael

1st a few questions.
Whats your processor and memory? Also how many megs is your graphics card?
Next. Have you tried to reinstall your Direct X? Or updated your graphics card drivers?
Now on the side note.. It's not the stores fault if your system(s) are not up to spec for handling the game. Perhaps we should take a look at your system before you get all mad at the store..Stores do this because of a simple thing. I could buy some software, copy it. Then return it to the store and exchange it for a different title or get my money back.. I got a free program and the store lost money.
------
Get FireFox . You'll be happy you did.

To Micheal:
As for this, situation I would have to side with the store.. IF the system is not up to the specifications of the game. That up to the user to inspect before he/she buys it. Not the store.
But before we get all out of hand. We should look at the system requirements of the game and see if the computer fall within or beats that. Then the next step would be updating the computer drivers.
------
Get FireFox . You'll be happy you did.

Well, this link tells me that the game's system requirements include XP. Perhaps there is something on your PC that blocks it.

OS: I Don't Know
CPU/Ram: I Don't Know
System Manufacturer: I Don't KnowInformation you should have entered above is
helpful to others for helping you.OS is Operating System (Win XP Home or XP Pro)
CPU/RAM
CPU is the type of Processor in your computer
and its speed.
RAM is how much RAM memory you have.
For me I would put P4,1.5/512 MBRight click My Computer,
then Properties.
All the above information can be found on the
General tab.System Manufacturer is who made your computer.

How to Troubleshoot Program Compatibility Issues in Windows XPIf your new computer has SP 2, then there may be some information about the game in these:
Programs that may experience a change in behavior after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2

shoudl re-clarify my statement: "As in software not working I would feel that to be a worthy situation... "
to be: As in software not working according to how it's supposed to or for the machines/equipment that it is said to work on...I would feel that to be a worthy return...
I would agree that if your system does not meet the software's requirements that would fall on the user for making a bad purchase, however we all know that programs don't always work as intended even when our system meets all the minimum requirements and has all the latest drivers and updates. I think in a situation like this you would have received a product that did not perform how it should have. Your point of having made copies is correct and it has been done to be certain, but I have returned software that didn't work on my system as it should have and I signed a sworn afadavit that I destroyed all copies/keys that I had (which I did) and I thought that to be an excellent customer service experience.
This being said I do not assume I know whether Micheale is in the right/wrong with the purchase made and the equipment being run on.
Thanks.

Yeah, definatly, iof the software isn't workign due to defect then yes teh retailer should return it or more likely exchange it for the same copy.. As for someones system not up to snuff. Nope. Or if someone just doesn't like it.. Nope.
I tried to get my money back twice. Once I just didn't like the game and lost battle.. The last one was a long battle . I told them I bought it not knowing it was MAC. But relized it when the disk wouldn't play..
The thing was the clerk was saying I was pulling a fast one by buying an IBM and trying to return a MAC title because they didn't sell MAC software. The Guy that finally returned it said he gotten back about 6 copies of that title, all for MACs. he returned my money then.

As Chuck pointed out:
OS: I Don't Know
CPU/Ram: I Don't Know
System Manufacturer: I Don't KnowSo basically Michaele has bought the game without any knowledge of the system & therefore
paid no heed to the system requirements. So, as Buzz says, hardly the stores fault regardless of consumer rights.
