simplifying configuration on each install

Microsoft Microsoft windows 2003 server...
February 22, 2010 at 11:59:43
Specs: Windows XP SP3

I like to setup computers always the same way: virtual memory size, uninstall media player, outlook express, messenger, default admin password's name, no sound events enabled, etc.

Is there any way I could tell windows to install everytime the same way so I don't have to do it by hand?

Thanx a lot for your help.

If you installing to pc's with the same hardware, you could create a ghost or image of the disk.

If the hardware is different, you could try nlite, this allows updates, drivers to be added to a new installation disk.

It also allows unattended installs.

Thanks for your reply,

I heard about these solutions, but what I'm looking for is a way to automate some options nlite doesn't have: classic style start menu, optimize the computer for performance (zero effects), advanced sharing enabled, view hidden files and extensions, do not notify about security updates, some internet options, etc.

Would it be possible programming some kind of script?

Well, in the article they mention Autoit, maybe this can be my starting point. Most of the changes I mentioned must be repeated for every user profile; so recording all actions may be the only way to do it.

Thank you.
