Simple taskbar question

How do I permanently remove a taskbar icon without removing the program?
Start/Run and in the Run box type "msconfig" without the quotes.
Then choose the startup tab and uncheck what you don't need.

which one? the quicklaunch icons (one on the left) or the ones on the right?
if it's the quicklaunch, just right-click on the icon... if it's the icons on the right (along with the clock), you have to open the program and find the option "dont show taskbar icon" from within...
what's the program? maybe it's familiar to me

The icons next to the clock can be hidden if you right-click the clock and pick Customize Notifications.
