Shutdown problems

My computer suddenly just shut down.. it happens all the time.. mostly when iam using applications.. it also happens if the computer hva none programs running...
I checked my cpu and cooling fan.. seems to be no problems there.. which i also can see from the cpu temp rate.
I dont have Service Pack 1 nor sp2 installed.. Will that help me? Is it nessacary?

Right-click on the My Computer icon, then on the pop-up menu left-click on Properties, then the Advanced tab, then Startup and Recovery, then click on the Settings button, and then find the check box labelled Automatically restart and make sure it is unchecked. When that box is checked, your PC will restart when Windows problems occur, but you will not get an error message (which is usually very helpful in finding the problem). It's a lot easier to work on the problem if you know what it is!
