Hi, Windows XP will not shut down for me either, I would go to start shutdown, then turn off, but it always gets stuck at the "saving your settings" screen and will stay there forever, or all the icons and the taskbar will disappear, but will not even GET to the "saving your settings" screen, and (do something very stupid, but it not shutting down annoys me)unplug it from the wall, could anyone help me?

I got that one beat. I recently upgraded to XP Pro and after a week my system decided it didn't like to be turned off. I can go through the shut down steps, but two seconds after the harddrive stops spinning, the system begins to reboot. It even happens if I hit the power button. I guess Gates is investing in utility stocks.....
