My friend's computer will not shur down according to him. He said he always have to use the power button. Any suggestions? Thanks, William

Hello William, probably something he has just loaded.

If its just started behaving this way, a system restore might work.

Or he might try remembering what he has installed on his computer when it started happening.

Click Sart, Help and Support, Click Fix a Problem (Nr Bottom) Click Start up and Shut down problems click Start up and shut down troubleshooter Choose the problem, follow the instructions.

Or do a search @ google.com shutdown problems in windows XP

Clean out your computer of all temporary folders, cookies, do a Scandisk, Defrag.
