Suddenly all shortcuts are gone from my system. No shortcut exists on the desktop, Start menu, etc. The quicklaunch does still work. The only way to open programs is to navigate to the installation directory. If I re-create a shortcut it works fine, but I don't want to do this system-wide. I was opening a video file or something normal when the system hung up, explorer.exe froze and restarted (not the whole computer), and then the shortcuts were gone. Restarting doesn't help, there is nothing found with Ad-Aware, and a virus scan turned up nothing. Any ideas before I just reload the OS?

Log in as Admin. Rename your profile with problems, to maybe profile.old Log in again using the same login with problems. That way, it will re-create your profile from the "Default" template. Then move all your files from the old profile to the new one
