shortcut to program no longer works

Comment:
I installed a program onto my D Drive where I keep my applications but before I unzipped it I forgot to make a folder to unzip it to. Consequently the many files are loose on the D directory. Of course the program worked fine until I made a folder and cut and paste all the program files into the folder (to make my D drive look neat). Now when I try to open the program from the shortcut on the desktop it won't respond. I realise it can't find the program so how can I tell it to look in the new folder I made? If I right click on the desktop shortcut and click properties, the path name shows the new folder.

Alt+click the the shortcut and look at the target line. Look for something.exe at the end of target line. Then use search to find the file.
Hope this helps, Sandman

I right click on shortcut then select properties. It shows a path like this: D:\Apps\WinFaxPro\FAXMNG32.exe.
I added the program name into the path thinking I was directing the shortcut to the new folder?

Do you know exactly where FAXMNG32.exe is located? If so go to the folder and right click and drag the exe file to your desktop (or startmenu). When you let go it will give you a menu that will allow you to create a new shortcut.

Yep Sandman. I've already tried that and still no response from that new shortcut. Oh well, looks like an untidy looking D drive until the next reformat.
Thanks anyway for all your advice.

One more question. Will the program run when you click on the actual exe file?
If not something (either in the registry or an .ini or .cfg file ) was confused by the move.
