I'm getting the following shell message in my Notepad upon rebooting my computer:

[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787

Does anyone know what this means and how I fix it? I've recently uninstalled some programs and wonder if I uninstalled something I shouldn't have. I haven't uninstalled anything that came with my new computer, just things I've added to it.

My computer info is as follows...hope this helps.

OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Version 5.1.2600 Build 2600
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Manufacturer Dell Computer Corporation
System Model Dimension 8200
System Type X86-based PC
Processor x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 4 GenuineIntel ~2392 Mhz
BIOS Version/Date Dell Computer Corporation A04, 3/18/2002
SMBIOS Version 2.3
Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS
System Directory C:\WINDOWS\System32
Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume2
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.0 (xpclient.010817-1148)"
Total Physical Memory 512.00 MB
Available Physical Memory 296.02 MB
Total Virtual Memory 1.72 GB
Available Virtual Memory 1.34 GB
Page File Space 1.22 GB

Any help that anyone could give me would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks very much for your time.

sounds like a problem that can be fixed by altering the registry, also check what is loading at startup.

good luck

Could mean several things. You might try a system restore. Start-programs-accessories-system tools- system restore.

doc! Thank you SO much! *HUGS*

I went to the website you suggested and it did the trick. For some reason I had a funky Desktop entry in my Startup items. I just cleared the check mark next to it and *poof*, end of my problem. Although it described my problem exactly, it didn't explain how it happened.

Anyway, thanks so much! Have a GREAT New Year!
