Hi, I am facing a very strange situation.
My computer is running Win XP Pro SP2.I added domain users and want to share some folders. However there is no "Sharing and Security" option when I right click on the folder or drive.
This happens when I set the user to Restricted user or Others->Users.
However, if I login as Administrator, or change the user to "Power User", then the sharing and security option is available.
Could someone advise what is stopping users from sharing the folder or file? Where can I configure so that I can allow user to share the folder or files.
The other users on other pcs can do so. No special setting was done.
I cannot find a way to enable this option on this pc.Please help..
Thanks!!Best regards,
Jane

Hey Janeyee,
I "Think" this is what you need to do...
Go to, Tools -> Folder Options -> View and Uncheck "Use Simple File Sharing" and click OK... Now you should get the Sharing and Security Options that you are looking for...
Let us know if it helped.
Take Care and Good Luck,
NickMy PC never Crashes nor does it have Bugs - It just develops random Features at times.

I did that and very strange thing is, even I uncheck the "Use Simple File Sharing" option, then click ok. When I open view tab again, the check is still there. So I was wondering if I couldn't uncheck that?

FYI
Simple File Sharing always remains disabled for computers joined to domains other than workgroups.

Hmm Strange... Just wondering what File System did you install Windows XP Pro in??? Cos i "Think" Sharing and Security does not work in FAT32... It works only in NTFS... So just check it out...
Let us know what happens,Nick

Your "thinking" is wrong.
