This only happens on the Gta:Vice city game.
I tryed running Program compatibility wizard with it for no reason. Now i go to install it nothing happens. So then i take the cd out of the drive and it says Setup.exe-No Disk. There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive D:.
So then i insert a different cd and it says Windows- Wrong Volume. The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume GTA_Vice_City into drive D:. and i try to click cancel and it just keeps popping up! I want it to stop that so i just have to put the cd in and the autoplay will install it like all the other games i have on it!! Please help thx!

Ben: if the game is installed, but will not start by way of the CD, then when inserting the CD hold down the left Shift key for approx. 15 sec. to keep AutoRun from taking over.
then click the game in the "All Programs" list.
should start now.

another GTA3 gamer had this to say:
"After you have installed the game you should not use the first CD anymore. Just insert the second CD and after that you start the game from the link that it has put on your Start menu.
If this does not work, try to update the game to version 1.1, the file is rather small and it removes lots of the CD checks, so this will probably solve your problem."

download the 1.1 patch from:

Ben: the "no disk in the drive" error can arise because of:

* your CD-ROM drive is not compatible with the program.

* you are using a copy of the program CD.

* you are not logged on to the computer as an Administrator.

* Bomb Shelter is interfering with the CD-ROM verification process.

* you are running a Windows XP Home account that uses "fast user switching."

some ideas for install troubleshooting;

1. disable antivirus program before the install.

2. shut down all your non-critical startup apps.

3. the installation/removal of a previous program was not completed?

4. running some other program concurrently with the installation?
InstallShield cautions against this.

5. try booting to Safe Mode (press F8 while booting) and installing the program.

6. delete the temp files.

7. if you receive a dialog asking you if you want to Repair, Modify or Remove the application, choose the Remove option.
wait until the installation has finished removing the software, and then run the installation another time.
the program should then get installed correctly.

let us know what worked for you...
