hi
i have a dell 725 color printer
the ink finished so i bought a new one
when i replace the old ink i was told that ink cartridge is missing
i tried powering on and off the printer but same message
so i decided to remove the drivers and reinstalling it using the cd it came with
this recognizes the cartridge and the printer is printing fine
however when the printer cable is connected to the usb port a message would pop up
" Found new hardware dell 725 color printer"
with the hardware icon at the bottom of the taskbar
when i closes that part the set up wizard would pop up saying
" Cannot install this hardware
There was a problem installing this hardware
an error occured during the installation of the device
the system cannot find the file specified"
when i closes that part the found new hardware pops up and it keeps going back and forth like that until i remove the cable from the port
i remove the drivers once more and download it from the dell site but same problem
any help would be appreciated
as i mentioned it is printing but i have to plug and unplug the cable when necessary
thanx in advancehi everyone
thanks for all the goodies on this site i really learnt a lot
anyway my "problem" is this
i have noticed every now and then that my computer taskbar time changes
like just bef

Did you use a genuine Dell cartridge? I suggest you boot into safe mode using F8 at startup. Once in safe mode remove ALL instances of the printer and unplug the printer. Reboot and install the print as per Dell instructions.

I had a problem with my Dell A920 All-In-One printer doing that. I ran out of ink and purchased new color and black cartridges from Office Max, store brand cartridges. I found out that all the cartridges for ink that Dell uses has a tiny microchip in them to tell the printer that is empty. So if you refill them, it'll give you the error message that you don't have ink. So you WILL have to buy brand new ones straight from Dell, which is not cheap, but there is no alternative. Been there, done that. Sorry for the bad news.
Good news though is it's not the printer or the drivers.
If it ain't broke, screw it up so you can fix it.
