My laptop is suddenly unable to connect to the internet or my home network. Both computers are connected to a dsl router, which is connected to the cable modem. Suddenly the laptop stopped working. The cable going to the router works fine in any other computer i plug it into. I ran IPCONFIG, but it shows no IP address. Puzzling. Again, I can plug the router cable into any other computer, and it finds the connection just fine. Any ideas?

You repeat the fact that you can plug any computer in but you don't tell us any specifics.
By this statement plugging your laptop into your router works.
So what exactly is the problem? Be specific, and don't leave any details out.

Since I am a betting man it sounds like the DHCP server on your router is acting up? If I were to guess it sounds like the DHCP Lease time has expired.
Try powering off and unpugging the cable modem and your router. Wait 30seconds then plug everything back in.
The other soultion is to manually assign IPs to the computer instead. This is how my home network is setup.
