Setup Error when loading Win xp

I am trying to upgrade my current Windows 98 S/E to Windows XP. At the begining of set up I received a message: SETUPAPL.dll file can not start. Error: 577FF58h What does this mean and what do I need to do at this point?

have you read all the articles regarding upgrading from 98 to XP? There are some things to be aware of before attempting this and i'd recommend printing out an article or two about it so you have a guide to follow during the upgrade.
