setup error only with (XP)

hello,,
i was trying to install XP, but aft i agree and press F8 and select the partition, BAD blue screen appear with this mssg:-
An error accur while setup was updating partition information on: 38163 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi [MBR] setup cannot continue. To quit setup press F3
.....
when i try winME or win98 no defects! i formated disk by FDISK, MAGIC PARTITION, and DM .. again and again ...but this error repeated

boot of the xp cd...choose the first option to repair and that will take u to recovery console....type help ( i believe it is help ) it will give you the commands...or u can search google for the recovery console commands
