Anyone out there could help me set up the web server for my machine?
I'm using a DSL line from qwest and the modem I'm using is Cisco 675. I already tried setting up the IIS and got the web server to indicate running but it still doesn't work. I register for a free domain from dhs.org and would like to host my web page with this domain.
Anyone out there who knows? Please help!Thank you very much.

I'm not sure what dhs.org does exactly... But maybe I can help.
You have set up IIS to run on your machine. You are using DSL from Qwest so I am guessing you have a static IP. Right now, you can have people connect to your web server by typing http://###.###.###.### in their browser. the #'s being your ip address assigned by Qwest.
If you want to find out your IP address, in DOS, or cmd.exe, type ipconfig or type netstat -an. This will tell you what numerical address to tell people to connect to.
Like I said, I don't know what DHS.org is. Maybe they are a DDNS(Dynamic Domain Name Server), meaning they can point a domain name towards whatever address you are logged in as(which might change when using dsl or cable service). You also might try calling Qwest about setting up a permanent web site. They should be able to help.
Hope this helps some. If not, good luck anyways...
BTW, I know RC1 versions of XP had problems with IIS starting up. Make sure you can even connect from your own machine: http:\\yourMachine
Cid

I have a dynamic ip address and I'm not using RC1....I could connect to my http://mymachine....
Thanks for the help....
but I don't think I could set it up correctly yet...
