setting the python path

i am using windows XP, right now i am following the online tutorial on programming using pyhton2.2.1(located in C-DRIVE-program files), and i need to cause the directory containing file named "python.exe" to be listed in my SYSTEM ENVIRONMENT VARIABLE named PATH ,so my computer will ready to use script files,i dont have any idea where to start even any knowlegde in doing so ,i really appreciate if somebody can give me the details to do so...

I'll give you the general thing, not sure about all that Python stuff.
Right-click My Computer | Select Properties | Click Advanced tab | Click Environment Variables | adjust whatever you need according to the Python stuff....

but what should i put on the variable value? and on variable name do i have just to type in the "python.exe" in that variable name box,and where can i get those variable value, the thing is i need to set the python path to prepare my computer using the script files and writing the script using the text editor like any word processor.....well hopefully someone who knows this treat me as the dumbest among the dumb .......oh c'mon i need the procedure to do so....am i just the only person using python in this world!
