Reply: (edit)Many motherboards have a Security setting in BIOS. If you hold down DEL key on bootup (most computers), you can get into BIOS. From there, go to the section called SECURITY or PASSWORD. From there, you can set the password. You can also clear the password by either jumpering the CMOS jumper on the motherboard to clear the CMOS or you can pull the battery from the motherboard to clear the CMOS (BIOS settings) if there is no jumper. If you find that you cannot get into BIOS or if your motherboard does not provide for Security settings, you should Google this question and see if you can find a utility that will do the trick for you. One thing I can think of is LILO in Linux which will activate on a dual boot system with Windows and Linux. Potentially, you could learn enough about LILO to set it up as a utility to prevent booting without a password without having to have Linux on your system. Enter term LILO in Google and learn about how to program LILO to be your boot loader. Good Luck
