i am slowly saving all XP files one way or another, Belarc, Startup list and Services.msc.
How do i save my current list of services in the column format asis under Run>Services.msc.
I exported it as both txt and csv. to txt doc and wordpad but the list is not in the orginal columns. as the descriptions r too long. i just need to know the startup type and service in the saved/xported file only. (can i disable the descriptive column temporarily then xport,
or do i have to manually alter all the txt in the exported txt or wordpad file. i have changed font to minimum but some of the descriptions still take up a line. on my list i just need to see Service and Startup type to save on a floppy.

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to accomplish, so these may or may not help...
You could just bring the list of services up on the screen and then hit the PrintScreen key. Then open your photo editing program (even MS Paint) and open a New file with the default settings. Then just Paste the PrintScreen contents from the clipboard (may require you to edit two or three files into one).
Otherwise, to see some of the active services, from a command prompt window type NET START. This will give you a list you could then export to a text file.
Again, not sure what you're trying to do, so maybe you need to start a new post with a little clearer question for us...

Three solutions:
- Use a text editor that allows you to set fixed tabs. Or you can use a word processor like Microsoft Word and put tab stops at the appropriate intervals.
- Use Excel to open the exported CSV or tab-delimited text file. (Note you must using File > Open on Excel's menu; you cannot simply drag and drop the file into Excel.)
- Use a scripting language to parse the csv or txt file into an html table ....

Sorted it out thx. easy when u know how.
i xported the list to wordpad in original format.I Will Not Fail !!!

del7 - Great to hear you've solved the problem. We'd appreciate if you would share with us what you did - We're here to learn and help each others -
Happy Easter/Passover

In Services, export list as Text (Tab Delimited) (*.txt) and name it sv1
Open Word, File, Open and open sv1.txt (you will have to click on show all files).
Click on Edit and then Select All.
Click on Table and go down to Convert, and select Text to Table.
Number of Columns = 5 and the rows should be greyed out at 83. Click OK.
