Could anyone explain to me how exacly to change the starup type of a service through the command line? so start telnet automatically at startup without using services.msc, im guessing it's some net command.

No, i mean through the command line(cmd). Like you can start and stop services like dhcp and workstation, but it's only temporary until you reboot, what i would like to know is how to modify the startup type, through the command line. without downloading some program to do it, there is a way i'm sure, just need to know what it is.

this may be of use:

Aww that sucks, i've looked over those websites many times, under net commands and all that junk and never found it not in there. I know it is possible because i was reading up on the blaster worm through symantec and they explained how to change the rpc so that it doesnt restart your machine, but i connot find the article anymore explaning it. Seems no one knows how to do it, or know one knows what i am talking about.

Here's what you're looking for (probably #3)
1) sc config <service name> start= disabled
or
2) sc config Messenger start= boot
or
3) sc config Messenger start= auto
Here's the MS website:http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/proddocs/entserver/sys_srv_configure_startup.asp

Note: You should put your service name (i.e. telnet) above where Messenger is.
I was making a script to stop that messenger popup spam.
