There have been many problems reported when SP3 updates have been installed on a system that already has programs on it other than just those in Windows.
You could try searching the web using: cannot chat after SP3
or similar, or look on the maker of the games web sites for t-shooting info, and you may find a suitable fix without having to un-install the SP3 updates.

If you're bound and determined to go back to SP2 updates, plus the hundred or so updates since for a typical system,....

Go to Add/Remove programs in Control Panel, find the SP3 updates entry, un-install them.

After that, if you have Automatic Updates set to default settings, it will install SP3 updates again eventually.
To prevent that, (at least, this worked for me a couple of months ago) go to the Microsoft Update web site, choose an Express search, have it download and install SP3 updates. When the SP3 updates install screen appears, select NOT installing them. From then on, the SP3 updates will be in the Optional software updates for your computer (found by doing a Custom search on the Updates site), not in the list Automatic Updates installs from.

The system on which I did that was one I was working on, not my own. As far as I know she has had no problem with getting new Microsoft Updates since - if she had problems she probably would have contacted me by now.
In her case she had Norton Internet Security installed and I could not get the SP3 install to work, and I didn't want to un-install NIS so I made do by not making the SP3 updates choice available to Automatic Updates.
My Topic about that and other after SP3 updates have been installed problems here:

If you want to try installing SP3 updates again, read up on the web about the problems you may encounter, and what you may need to do beforehand. E.g. They will often install fine if you un-install your anti-virus software before you install them. Similar may apply for anti-spyware/adware/trojan programs.
