When is it going to be released? If it is released now, where do I download it and why isn't it on the Microsoft Website?

Probably in the middle of this month or next first half of the year. I am not sure.

It's not ready yet but you can install the latest RC (release candidate) if you want. Personally, I'm waiting until it goes gold.

"Q: When will Microsoft ship XP SP3?
A: The company says that Windows XP Service Pack 3 will ship in the second quarter of 2008. However, you can now download a near-final version of XP3, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/... called Windows XP SP3 Release Candidate 2 (RC2) Refresh. My expectation is that XP SP3 will be completed very early in Q2 2008 (i.e. April).

I haven't looked at the changelogs yet but from what I hear already there isn't much reason to put on service pack 3. If you're on Service Pack 2 I'd just stay there... but that's me.
