I don't think that it is a sp 2 problem but perhaps a hardware problem of some kind. It may just be a coincidence that it occurred shortly after you installed sp2.
The rebooting could be a boot sector virus or a power supply problem. The slowly down when you play a game could also be a power supply problem.
If the hard drive does not get enough power from the power supply it can't spin properly and it slows down, so does the cd drive - cd's won't spin properly.

Try this.-If you have trouble with sp2 after installing boot to the safe mode and go to the boot.ini file in C: drive, Open properties and uncheck the read only box. Then open the file with notepad. Look for /noexecute=optin. Change it to /noexecute=AlwaysOff. This has worked for me as drwtsn.exe file has stopped the loading at the desktop
Please post back within 24 hours or I will delete the post from my follow up list. Thanks. It would be a courtesy if you would post back and let us know if the fix worked or not.
