Hi
Forgive me if this sounds strange, as this is my first real problem that I have to ask help for!

I installed xp service pack 2 on my pc earlier today and now my pc wont work ! Every time i boot up the pc it restarts before getting to the desktop ?! And i can’t get into safe mode.
I’m working on my sister laptop at the mo so i don’t know my pc specs off hand but if anyone knows why this is happening it would be great help.

Cheers
Paul

System repair should work. SP2 will be gone and you will have to install all the xp updates. Be sure the firewall and A/V are active before going on the net.

Also, the ms update site may not give you the option for SP1. If you need it go to autopatcher.com.

Yes RB, sad but all so true. It was obvious when XP was first released, and confirmed by WMP9 and subsequent "critical" updates.

well i tried to fix my comp but failed ! i got this error :

STOP : 0X0000007B (0XF7C7E63C, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

i take it from that error that my pc might as well be in the bin !

Cheers

If system repair didn't work you are probably in for a format and clean install. Boot from the xp cd and go to the install menu, select format and install.
