Servers How to?

Specs: Windows XP
I just found two IBM servers model xseries 345, got them home turned them on, and they booted to a screen that says insert bootdisk and press F1.. I restarted and inserted my Windows xp disk, it loaded got all the way up to press enter to install, and when i did that, it said no hard disk found press F3 to quit and reboot, even though it has six hard drives...

I know nothing about servers as this is the only time I've tinkered with one.. Now I'm wondering if it's windows XP wont install on a server and I have to install Windows Server 2003 or something? anyone know?

Thanks..Adam

More likely the install media you have does not contain the required "Third Party" drivers necessary for XP setup to recognize and access the harddrives which I suspect are SATA.

When you boot up the install CD you should get a prompt to hit F6 if you need to install third party drivers. You need to get the drivers and have them available on either floppy or CD. Setup usually looks for them on floppy.

I'd guess U320 scsi but basically the correct answer. You need the drivers for the storage adapter.

Expensive way to do it. Drivers are normally free.
