In the Computer Management shortcut in the Control Panel, the Server Service is not started. I learned this by selecting System Tools, Local Users and Groups, and then the User folder and right-clicking on a User, selecting Properties and attempting to access the "Member of" tab. When I do that I get the following error: "The following error occurred when attempting to read the properties for the user . The Server Service is not started."

Any idea why this is happening? Or how I can start the Server Service? It is not listed in Services at all.

This computer has had a complete full install from a retail CD on a blank and formatted drive. All hardware is on the HCL.

All assistance is greatly appreciated.

In the control panel, Services applet, you will find the list of all services and their current state. You can restart, stop, and set how they are to be started in there.
