Server loses connection

Specs: Windows XP
I am using IIS on XP pro SP3. For several years this was a stable connection but recently I started losing connectivity of remote access to site. I really haven't changed anything as it is used strictly as a server. The site is a weather station that automatically refreshes the browser once a minute and if I have a browser pointed at the site the site stays connected to the net. But if I do not have any browser viewing the site the connection gets lost after as little as a few minutes. To reset the connection I reboot the DIR-655 router. The router has not been changed and all other connections seem to work. I am running another server (WHS) on the https:// site and this server is on the http:// site but this has not changed in several years. One thing I noticed is that if I go to the server I still can access the internet using IE. Any suggestions?

Are you using dyndns or do you have a static IP from your ISP?
