yo, something has gone seriously wrong
i left my comp to dload some stuff, and shut down when it finished, and off i went to work, came back computer off - good, no waste of electricity lol, turned on, greeted with invalid boot.ini - loading from c:\windows
um not good, it gets to windows logon bit and error box comes up, lsass.exe - system error, invalid paramater was passed to a service or function...
cant logon using recovery console either, the admin password has been changed, im guessing virus of somekind or someones been messing but no one would have had access to the actual comp so.. hacked ? but who would want to hack me ?
anyway, any ideas as to how to rectify if indeed it can be rectified...
is the boot.ini saved in restore ?help plz
thx

i was hacked...he changed the admin password and gave the guest account a password. XP has builtin backdoors.
anyway, it's doubtful anyone would want to take your system down, unless they think it's fun (or if they know you).
you can't login? or you can't boot?

clicking ok on the lsass.exe error box just restarts the system and i just get back to it again

i have XP pro as well. same identical error. i shutdown and came back the next morning and it would not boot all the way into XP. if i clicked ok it would reboot as well.
