sent message remains in outbox, resends

June 8, 2011 at 15:04:04
Specs: Windows XP Sp3, Pentium / 500 meg
When sending a message using Outlook Express, an Error messages appears after sending is complete. The sent message remains in the outbox and continues to be resent until deleted from the outbox.

How can I restore normal operation - that is, when a message is sent, if transfers from the outbox to the sent box?

Thanks! for the response. I have taken a quick look, no fix as yet. Will keep digging.
This is great - I had no idea of these resources.

D W, seems I recall (I'm not positive) that you can delete the outbox and it'll be recreated empty on the next reboot? In your digging, check that out.

The problem I described does not exist if the "send options" menu does NOT have the "save copy of sent message in 'sent items' folder" checked.
Based on that, I decided to delete a lot of items from the 'sent items folder' - and many of them had photo attachments. After a couple of hours of deletion of 'sent items' over the weekend, all appears to be working normally; that is, my problem no longer exisis.

Who knew that the "sent items folder" could get filled (I often delete from the 'in box' - hadn't thought of the 'sent' box).

Thanks for the help and suggestions.
