Many problems can occur with Outlook as your PST file approaches the 2 GB limit. Use the Archive features included with Outlook 2000 to move outdated Outlook items to an archive PST file. This will reduce the size of your main PST file.

John,

Thanks for the response, but I'm not sure how to do what you said would remedy the problem. What is a PST file, how do I locate it and how do I move outdated items to an archive PST file?

In outlook:
Tools > options > preferences
Click on email options
Check and make sure that the "save copies of messages in sent folder" has not been accidentally unticked.

To answer your questions:
A PST file is an outlook personal folder file used for storing email messages.
By default (unless changed) you will normally find your PST file/s located in the directory at:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
