What method are you using to get on the Internet?

Modem / ADSL / Cable?

My guess is that you are using a modem and your phone line is shared, either with a fax or second telephone handset [perhaps even a cordless phone].

Try unplugging other phones when you download larger files. It is most likely that there is soome line interference.

You can also attempt to instal a 3rd party download manager to assist.
