Comment:

I am trying to run a self extracting file, but it opens the MSDOS window, then closes it. So, I tried to run it directly from MSDOS, and I got "Can not run this file in MSDOS mode". WHY is it opening it in that mode then, and how do I fix this?

Sounds like a corrupt file to me. Get another copy of it.
