I just reinstalled xp and the last time I had xp installed I had always used selective startup with all my startup programs installed.
I want to know what I can disable for better performance,I know I had a couple items unselected in selective startup but I cant remember.Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The problem is that many people have different programs in their start up.
Many programs that you dont need at start up would be messenger programs such as msn, or icq, or aol etc.,or any programs that you can double click after you boot up if you want to start them.
You have to be careful though as not to untick the wrong ones.
I would just do the ones you know for sure what they are for.
If you run into trouble and cant boot just go into safe mode and change it back.
Hope that helped you some....

Hi Chunko,
Use the guide to disabling unnecessary XP services on this site:
▫ Black Viper
It'll take a while to go through the list, but it's well worth the effort.

Hi all,
I have all the unnecessary startup items disabled and I also have all the unwanted services disabled as well.
What I need to know is what items can I "untick" in selective startup and still have my my system running fine.
Like I said before,i had it set up that way in my last os configuration,I'm just not sure which items to untick.
thanks again
