Selecting the bottom value in list

I have a ledger style spreadsheet with a balance that moves after each transaction. There are currently hundreds of rows in the sheet.
I want the latest balance to display in a cell at the top of the sheet.
Is there a function that will lookup the bottom most value in a column, or something similar to allow me to display this?

Hi, Just copy the format of the cell that contains the total balance, and paste same to the cell of your choosing.

Quite simple. It is called linking spreadsheets or in your case linking cells. Simply highlight the cell that contains your balance click edit copy. Then go to the cell where you want the balance displayed click edit paste special. In the next box click paste link and the balance will be displayed in the new location. It will automatically change when the original balance is changed.
This works well between cells on one speadsheet or linking spreadsheets together.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies.
Not sure these will work, as the cell with the balance in is always moving, as additional rows are added.
I want something that will then reference the value in the last row, without me having to specify what the last row is.
