Simply said, my goal is to make my computer display on a tv using RCA jacks, quality not a big thing (i'll just use it to watch movies) do i really need to purchase a card that has tv out to accomplish this? I saw this listing on ebay that had a cable that plugs into your computers vga and on the other end has an S-Video jack and a yellow RCA jack, anyone know anything as to what this cable is for or used for? The cable is on sale for $3, graphics card, the cheapest one that will accomplish my goal will do really... anyone give some insight or lead me in the right direction before i make a purchase? Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

The resolutions and horizontal and vertical sync rates of computer video and TVs are very different. A simple cheap adapter with no circuits to convert one to the other will not work.

AGP Graphics Card with SVideo out should suffice like:

You would also use Line (Sound) Out on the sound card. If your TV has a Scart Socket you can buy a convertor like:

I knew something was misleading from the way that cable worked, lol. Orbital, thanks a billion... i'll definitelly look into that graphics card :)
Sound wise, my computer is already set with a decent 5.1 surround sound card (clearance at comp usa for $10, i know!) but its the display that im not so happy with. I have a really small monitor and it'd be nice to load a dvd on my pc and see it on my bigger tv set instead, lol.
any other comments are still greatly appreciated ;)

The card suggested is basic but good.
I also agree to stay with NVidia GPU which it is....useing the adapter that will be supplied with the card you will need 2 leads.
A 50 Ohm video lead with RCA male one end and the same on the other end.
For sound to the TV you will also need a lead that is 3.5 stereo Jack at the computer end and 2xRCA at the other end for the TV.
I assume that your TV will have RCA input capability.
If your TV does not then you can take your inputs to a video player that is connected to the TV.
Once you have it connected you will need to force the TV detection from the software supplied with the card.
Have fun...
