Hello all,

When i click properties of any drive in My Computer (XP Pro SP2) the security and the sharing tabs do not appear. However, when i open up the properties of any folder in these drives the tabs appear. I have simple file sharing disabled, i am also the administrator and i have attempted these fixes:

Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Key: Software\Microsoft\windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Name: Nosecuritytab
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0 -------------> the thread did not exist

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa - forceguest 0

Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click: Server service |
Set Startup type to: Automatic | Click Apply | Click the Start button |
When it has started, click OK

Open Group Policy...
Start | Run | Type: gpedit.msc | Click OK |
Navigate to...
Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Explorer\
Remove the Security tab
Set to Not Configured or Disabled.

They have not worked. I am stumped for ideas.
I have reformatted today to fix previous problems that were unrelated, it is unlikely that anything i have done in the last 30 hours has done anything.

Thanks in advance.

Gabba

This may work :
Go to Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Security Options > Network Access: Sharing and security model for local accounts, then set the value to "Classic - Local ......"

"I have reformatted"

Is your file system fat32 or ntfs? If fat32 you won't get the security tab.

Are you ready for where Microsoft wants you to go today?
