Security Update Doesn't Install

The automatic update for windows prompts me to install "security update 329834." I download and install it. The process seems to install correctly. However, the next day I get the same prompt to install the same security update. This has been going on for a week now. Even with my firewall down the security update downloads and installs seemingly fine, but then the following day when I boot up my comp I again am asked to install "security update 329834." What is going on here? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Frank, Did you check to see if this update is located in your add/remove file?
I just checked mine and it is located there and have had no problems with this update.
What I would do (if 329834 is in the add/remove file) is remove it and then try to download again.
329834 is a Windows XP Hotfix (SP2) update.

Try disabling the automatic update feature. Use your computer as you normally do. The next day when you startup our computer, do a manual "Windows Update" and see if any critical updates are needed, also check your installation history. If there are no updates needed, then turn the automatic notification back on, if you like using it. Then see if the problem is solved.

Thanks for the prompt response! Sprank, I just checked my "add/remove file" settings and the update "329834" is in there. I will try uninstalling it and then re-downloading and installing. If that doesn't work, I'll look into capt's suggestion. Thanks again!
