My Shockwave player works I have tested it on site the problem I am having is being unable to open a file on my PC called bass.htm this has a file associated with it called bass.swf when I try to open it I get an error message "restricted site" unable to load active x controls as they are disabled. When I try to allow and lower the restictions and the security settings under Security resticted sites and make it low windows is telling me I can't.
How can I get windows to allow me to view a resticted site.

This may sound silly but is this PC your own and do you have administrator rights?

Yes it is my own and yes I do have administrator rights I can change settings for trusted sites but not resticted I can't even add the path name to the trusted zone because it is on my C drive and does not start with http it only uses internet explorer to open the file. I have even gone of line and still it won't let me open it.

You know, we all are still learning the ins and outs of SP2. No one seem to yet have any definite idea whats really the fix for any given problem caused by SP2 (don't forget it was released only 2 months ago). Until then, why don't you try Firefox as your alternative browser?

Hi Kaz,

This might be worth a try

In IE click Tools/Internet Options/Security/Trusted Sites/Sites/ and type "http://sitename"in the site name box, making sure you uncheck the 'Require https' box and OK your way out.

Thankx for the help Alan I tried that and finally got my settings changed to low now it tries to open but never gets there. It opened up before I upgraded to SP2. I went to the macromedia flash player site and they said the main reason that the flash player would not work is because of pop up stoppers they had a file to download that would fix the problem but to my alas that did not work either.
This looks to be SP2 related. Any one else having the problem??
Any other help appreciated.
