I have just takin out my cd-rom drive and replaced it with a Dvd drive (Pioneer Dvd-106S). Once I had connected all the cables and turned on my pc my monitor wouldn't turn on?

I allready have a Philips cd-rw in aswell and it is set to master and the dvd drive slave. Any one now why this is happening?

Reply:

1. Set the DVD as secondary single-master;
2. Check for PIO Only in System props / hardware / Device Manager IDE ATA/ATAPI controller / Secondary IDE Controller. if so, DELETE both the unit AND the controller from Device Manager and RESTART.
3. if it says "Ultra DMA" then it's probably an incompatibility between the Mobo and the drive,it seems there is some kinda compatibility issues with AMD and that drive.Goodluck

'Wouldn't turn on' as in...
a) no power to monitor ??
b) black screen ??

Check inside the system case as u may have dislodged something when u fitted the drive.

GoodLuck
