whenever a drive is attempted to open through my computer by double clicking on it the search -button-menu comes up!!!!! drives can however be opened using the address bar.

Search Companion Starts If You Double-Click a Folder(or a drive)

If you do not like messing with Registry, try this--
Click Start, then RUN, then type
regsvr32 /i shell32
Note the space after the '2', and after the 'i'
